Common questions

How do I collect a find?

Walk to the spot and open it in the app, then tap Collect here. Stay put for a moment while the app confirms your GPS. If the signal is weak or you're indoors, scan the QR code on site instead — that backup collects the find without a precise location. Sign in with Google and pick a username the first time.

The QR code isn't working

Make sure you open the full link from the QR (including the secret code in the URL). Sign in with Google if prompted. A few finds still ask for GPS as well as the QR — allow location and stand near the venue. If the collectible is inactive or expired, it cannot be claimed. You can also collect from the app when you're at the spot.

Location permission denied

Ping and collect-by-location need GPS. Open your browser site settings for spotted.gi, allow Location, then reload. On iOS Safari, also check Settings → Safari → Location. Indoor GPS can be inaccurate — scan the QR code on site if Collect here says the signal isn't precise enough.

It says I already collected it

Each collectible can only be claimed once per account. Check your collection — if it is already there, you are all set.

Username issues

Usernames cannot be changed after they are set. Reserved names (e.g. admin, support) are blocked. To report an abusive or impersonating username, email us with details.

Will more finds appear during our holiday?

Yes. Spotted.gi adds specials, one-offs, and marketing drops over time — there isn’t a fixed “complete the set” total. Visitors and locals can keep checking Ping and new QR spots around Gibraltar.

Can kids use Spotted.gi?

Spotted.gi is aimed at kids, teens, and families on vacation, and locals are welcome too. Younger hunters may need a parent’s help to sign in with Google and allow location. Stay aware of traffic and follow venue rules when scanning codes.

Still stuck
